The Master 2010 – 2011
Dr Christopher Anderson
Born on 13 January 1944, Chris became a Liveryman in 1976 following his father’s (Hugh Anderson) year as Master. Educated at St. Edward’s School, Oxford; Trinity Hall, Cambridge; and The London Hospital, he achieved Open Entrance Scholarships to both St Edward’s and The London.
Following hospital posts at The London, Chris spent a year as a Lecturer in Anatomy at the Medical College. Discovering that family life and a career in surgery were not compatible, he joined a General Practice in South Cambridgeshire, developing this Sawston Practice into a highly respected Teaching Practice, catering for Cambridge clinical students and G.P. trainees (now registrars). He was appointed a Tutor for the Royal College of General Practitioners and also a Clinical Teacher in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Cambridge. He developed an interest and expertise in the management of infertility, psycho-sexual medicine, and also in minor surgery.
He has two daughters and three grandchildren, becoming a grandfather well before the age of 50. He has been married to his second wife Rabiah, born in Singapore, for ten years.
He enjoys keyboard playing, especially the organ, both at home and in local churches and also in St. John’s Cathedral in Antigua. He and Rabiah enjoy travelling and pay annual visits to Malaysia (visiting Rabiah’s relatives) and Antigua where they have many friends. After retirement from General Practice, Chris was a Director and subsequently Chairman of the BOD of Antigua Village, a large condominium complex north of St. John’s on Dickenson Bay. He has been a keen water sports enthusiast, particularly windsurfing and water skiing – but sadly, becoming ‘less young’ is curtailing these activities. Other interests include seeing the grandchildren, D.I.Y., and enjoying wine and (especially Asian) dining
