Don't Give me a Headache!
The chances are that at some point in your life you have taken some form of pain relief medication, whether it was aspirin, ibuprofen or paracetamol.  But what are these drugs?  How are they made? And how can we tell if a substance contains one of these drugs?  This activity will try to answer those questions.

Cold light - from reactions that are bright and cool!

Question?
What do fireflies, jellyfish and bacteria have in common?

Answer:
They all glow in the dark.

In these fascinating reactions energy is given out in the form of light, not heat.  This is known as chemiluminescence, or cold light.  In this experiment you will make and use a chemiluminescent compound to detect impurities in pharmaceutical compounds.
