The Clothworkers' Foundation was set up in 1977 by The Clothworkers' Company, the ancient City of London Livery Company, twelfth of the 'Great Twelve' and established by a Royal Charter issued in 1528 by King Henry VIII. The Foundation is the independent charitable arm for the whole of the Company's charitable work. The Foundation aims through its funding to improve the quality of life, particularly for people and communities that face disadvantage. It also supports the nation’s textile heritage and promotes the development of technical textiles.
