Main Hall
The Main Hall
Salters' Hall was opened in 1976; it
is the sixth residence and replaces the previous Hall which
was destroyed by fire in an air-raid in 1941. It was designed
by Sir Basil Spence with interior design directed by the late
David Hicks.
The Main Hall
The Main Hall is
an opulent room with ash panelling throughout. It can be used
to host dinners, luncheons, banquets, seminars and wedding receptions
to name but a few examples. It is on the fifth floor of Salters'
Hall and is accessed from a large reception foyer which houses
two lifts. There are ladies' and gentlemen's cloakrooms on that
floor, both of which feature provisions for the disabled.
The Foyer
The most prominent feature of the Hall
is the high ceiling which lends itself to superb acoustics -
ideal for conferences, lectures and musical evenings. The Hall
also has a balcony. There is a small anteroom off the Main Hall
which can be used for drinks receptions on arrival. The fully
fitted, stainless steel kitchen is equipped with two double
ovens, one large oven and a large refrigerator.
