Salters' Chemistry Camps 2008

Thank you to all those who requested a place at this year's Camps.  For those who are still interested in attending one of the Camps in 2008, there are still places available at The University of Sussex and The University of Ulster at Coleraine. Salters' Festivals of Chemistry 2008

The first of the 2008 Salters' Festivals of Chemistry was hosted by Bangor University on Tuesday 18 March and they are set to continue until the end of June.

A Record Breaking Seventeen Salters' Chemistry Camps in 2008!                       

Seventeen Salters' Chemistry Camps are to be held in 2008 and we are delighted to announce that The University of Cambridge will be hosting two Camps for the first time!

Once again eight Camps with a pharmaceutical theme will be sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline.  The University of Leeds will be hosting a Camp focusing on Colour Chemistry.

Following another successful year in 2007 we will again continue our partnership with The Royal Society of Chemistry and their AimHigher project, Chemistry: The Next Generation.  Two Camps will again be hosted by Imperial College, London.

Application forms for the 2008 Salters' Chemistry Camps have been sent to schools with the recent issue of 'A Pinch of Salt!' but can also be downloaded from our website.

Calling All Chemistry Teachers!

We are looking for more teachers to help run the Salters' Chemistry Camps to be held in the summer of 2008 and in future years.  A University Host, a Lead Teacher and a team of 5 Teachers Mentors are assigned to each camp.  If you would like the opportunity to work with highly motivated students and are interested in a rewarding and fun teaching experience outside of school then click here for further information.

Institute Annual Awards Ceremony 2007

The Salters' Institute's Annual Awards Ceremony was held on Friday 23 November 2007 at Salters' Hall. There were thirty-eight people awarded prizes, which were presented by the Master of The Salters' Company, Mr Nicholas Blackwell.  Over 150 people attended this event which is always a highlight of the Salters' Institute calendar .

Institute Reception 2007

The Salters' Institute's Reception was held on Friday 2 November 2007.  This is a popular event held at The Salters' Hall every two years. Attendees included former Award Winners, Teacher Mentors, University Hosts and other associated “friends” of The Salters' Institute. 2007 saw numbers swell to almost 160 people and an entertaining and informative night was had by all!
