Salters' Chemistry Camps 2012
***The Salters' Chemistry Camps due to be hosted by the University of Cambridge on 16-18 and 18-20 July are now heavily over-subscribed***

In 2012 there are 14 Salters’ Chemistry Camps due to take place at selected Universities between June and August. Students can experience hands-on practical Chemistry in University labs, a taste of life in University Halls of Residence, lively chemical demonstrations and a variety of evening social activities at these popular Camps.
Application forms for the 2012 Salters’ Chemistry Camps can be downloaded from our website now and are also available in the 2012 Institute leaflet.

Salters' Festivals of Chemistry 2012
***Even though the closing date for the Salters' Festivals of Chemistry has now passed, there may still be limited places available at selected venues. If you have not yet applied for a place at the Festival of your choice, please contact the Festivals Administrator on the details below to enquire about current availability***
A grand total of 53 Festivals will take place at Universities throughout the UK and Ireland and all students from Years 7 and/or 8 (or equivalent) are invited to take part. One team of four students is welcome from each school and places are allocated on a first come first served basis, so do enter early to ensure a place at the venue of your choice.

Institute Annual Awards Ceremony 2011
This prestigious annual event held at Salters’ Hall celebrates high levels of excellence within the science education sector. This year the Ceremony took place on Friday 18 November 2011.
We were very pleased to welcome the Rt. Hon. David Willetts, Minister for Universities and Science who presented the Awards at the Ceremony and commented:-
“It’s been an honour to present these awards and join the Salters’ Institute in recognising the science talent we have in our schools and universities. I have been incredibly impressed by the standard of winners and hope many will go on to be leaders in the science field.”
Awards were presented for the Salters’ Graduate Prizes, Salters’ National Awards for Science Technicians, Salters-Nuffield Advanced Biology Prizes, Salters Advanced Chemistry Prizes, Salters Horners Advanced Physics (SHAP) Prizes, SHAP Teacher Prize, Salters’ City and Guilds Prizes and Salters’ Prizes for Exceptional Achievement in Physical Sciences.
Over 200 guests attended the Prizegiving Ceremony and also enjoyed a buffet luncheon.
Calling All Chemistry Teachers!
We are looking for more teachers to help run the Salters' Chemistry Camps to be held in the summer of 2012 and in future years. A University Host, a Lead Teacher and a team of 5 Teachers Mentors are assigned to each camp.
