Ecton Hill Field Studies Association
Until 1891, copper and lead deposits on Ecton Hill were worked since the Bronze Age, for more than 3,500 years! The total ore production is estimated at over 100,000 tonnes, mainly of copper ore. In the late 18th Century, Ecton was at the forefront of developments in mining technology and both Chemistry and Geology developed rapidly as a result of these advances in technology.
